I have many women near and dear to me who have distanced themselves from the church because they have experienced hurt. Spiritually, verbally, emotionally or physically (or all the above).
They have been taught about a God of Love while only experiencing for themselves the brokenness. The toxic misuse of power, the twisting of scripture to fit some man's construed comfort zone, the stealing of their bodies.
They distance themselves because this is not the God of Love. This is abuse. And the best thing to do when experiencing abuse IS TO distance oneself.
So I employ you Church. Lament. Lament and Repent.
Come to them. Let them come home. But first. You better make darn sure home is a safe place to be.
Womens' salvations are at stake.
